Alizah Olivas
Artist Statement
I create handmade earrings, necklaces, and rings in my West Seattle studio focusing on clean, simple designs that allow gemstones to take center stage. I'm drawn to color and natural variation, and I enjoy letting each stone guide the final form of a piece.
The process of making jewelry brings me a great deal of joy, from working with metal to choosing and setting stones. I try to carry that feeling through every piece. My goal is to create pieces that feel special yet wearable--jewelry that brings joy and becomes part of someone's everyday life.
Artist Bio
Alizah is a West Seattle/White Center native with a lifelong love of making things by hand. Her journey into jewelry began nearly 20 years ago in a French beaded flower class, where she realized that if she could make flowers from wire and beads, she could make earrings--and she hasn't stopped since.
Through years of classes at local bead and jewelry stores, Alizah built a strong foundation in technique. In 2018, Alizah expanded her practice by studying silversmithing at Pratt Fine Arts Center, learning to solder and manipulate metal in new ways. Her work celebrates color, stones & gemstones, and the joy of the making process, resulting in jewelry that is playful, thoughtful and deeply personal.
