Artist Statement

A northwest native, my love of the outdoors and the seasons of this area inspire my work. I hope to share my respect and advocacy for nature; especially native plants and local critters with the use of real plants and images of what surrounds us. I also wish to bring a smile and a sense of hope through the expressions, the whimsy and chosen colors. I work with mid-range (stoneware) clays and all my work is "hand built". The majority of my work is functional pottery, and it makes me smile to think of how it may bring people together over food and good times.

Artist Bio

I grew up on the Olympic Peninsula; beaches and forest trails were where I spent my time. I spent many hours drawing and making. As an adult I was always involved in some artistic endeavor; but it wasn't until I retired from my career as an early childhood educator, that I seriously took up ceramics. I took several years education in the field from Jefferson CC, as well as many various online and in-person workshops with some of the countries very best ceramic artists. I have and continue to sell my work on consignment at 4 lovely shops; as well as participate in Pop Up's and various shows. I feel very blessed to be part of such a friendly and warm arts community here in West Seattle.
